If you let me tell it

If you let me tell it every Big StuckOnSalsa main event is always going to be the biggest and the best event SOS has ever had . But this upcoming StuckOnSalsa Resolution Jam is really going to be the biggest Party on land in the DC area . We have the Cobo Brothers from North Carolina , Darlin Garcia form Philadelphia and Calle Sol also out of Philadelphia performing and we have DJ Jose Rodriguez DJ Salsa Steve from Richmond and DJ Neo from DC providing the Hot Salsa Sounds . Add to the mix that it will be held at The Salsa Room DC's hottest Salsa Venue and you have a combination that cannot be beat

I always wondered

I am a promoter and I always go to other promoters events to support them but here in DC it seems like I am the only one that does this. I hardly ever see other promoters got to other promoters events. I see Keith Givens out a lot but that is just about it. I also go out to see how other promoters handle their events. I even go to the promoters events that to do not have a lot of attendance at their events to see what mistakes not to make.

I never see djs in this town go out to see other djs play. I think that is crazy , you would think that djs would go hear what the competition is playing but what do I know? I love this town and the scene but it is still a strange town

Why do people feel they don't have to count when they dance?

t is such a sore subject with me because I am such an on beat freak . i cringe when people tell me of course I can dance Salsa I am Latino and then they proceed to look like they are crazy when they start dancing.

It's in my blood . I don't have to count I feel the music . Sure Pal.

When you are dancing by your self , no you do not need to count but when you are dancing with a partner or doing a performance with some one , Counting is Mandatory .

What if someone is not feeling what you are feeling ? Then Houston we have a problem .

If the musician who is playing the music is counting they the dancer has count as well

Do you think when people are doing a routine they are all just feeling it? Of course not . The routine is mapped out and broken down into 8 counts. Do you think Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were just feeling it? No they practiced for Hours in a day the mapped out Choreography.

When you are dancing with someone you have to have a plan . And that is what counting does it gives you a plan to follow. I have taken classes form Jazz to Tap to Salsa form some pf the best instructors in the world and not one of them did not teach me anything without counting involved

The Grand Daddy of them All

The Resolution Jam is the most famous of all the SOS events . Here is a clip from Zanzibar from the Second One in 2006

The DC Salsa Meet Up

The DC Salsa Meet Up came to the SOS WED at the TSR last night and they brougth a party with them . The classes were packed and the dancing was non stop . Wow when the DC Salsa Meet UP comes to an event they change the whole complexion of an event. They bring in a lot of new blood , and in turn they are excited about dancing and having fun and you can feel the fun energy in the air when they come to a party.

No wonder every promoter in town is ringing Cathy Freeman's phone off the hook . They all want the DC Salsa meet Up to come their event I know I do .

Very disappointed in Promoters in DC Salsa scene

Though we had a great turn out a few people who are labeled as leaders in the Salsa community were nowhere in sight . I was asked all night where this person was or where that person was and i would just look around and say I don't know where they are but they are not here .

Except for Cathy Freeman the organizer of the DC Salsa Meet Up Group, Keith Givens Givens and Mr.Mambo not one other promoter from the so called 79 promoters attended the The Movie Screening of La Epoca or showed for the After party with a Live band ad 3 djs all for just 5.00 . We had a great turnout regardless of the promoters not attending.

I call myself Salsa's no1 Fun dealer , I deal fun not drama but I will also address situations that need to be addressed. Maybe it is a reflection of how the promoters feel about me. If that is the reason so be it . All I have dome in the last 5 years is try to help the DC Salsa scene including the promoters that did not show. I was a little hurt at first but I got over it quickly when Franco told me the total of people who came through the door . I happen to be too sensitive a person who sometimes give things thought that should not be given a thought. I am also a very frank person who says what is on my mind . In the end I don't want any one to come to my events that don't want to be there.

I will do anything for anybody in the Salsa scene that is reasonable and I am a very loyal person, but in return i expect reciprocation . Unfortunately for me I can be very petty and it takes me a while to get over situations when I feel that I am crossed . I have attended and supported every one here. Those days are over.

But looking back on the last 5 years except for a few promoters they have never supported any of SOS events so why should I be surprised at this event.

The DC Salsa Community is in disarray right now . Promoters do not respect each other or support one another . It is total chaos , yes economy is playing a big part on the lack of attendance at events but all the drama has an effect as well . I have been told that I am one of the one's who creates all the drama . They will say me posting this on my Blog is creating drama.

I will say whatever . I am just stating facts and if facts cause drama then I am one of the people who are creating drama

Wow La Epoca Movie Premiere was off the Salsa Mambo Chain

I found the documentary La Epoca to be fascinating . It was informative and entertaining . This is what we call edutainment . A mixture of entertainment and being educated . The Executive producer Josue Joseph did a fantastic job putting this epic documentary together. I also found out hat Josue is also an excellent musician. His father Alfonso" Panameno" Joseph who played with Arsenio Rodriguez Tito Puente and many other greats in the Palladium Era is a living legend.. This gentleman is fascinating and one of the most down to earth people I have ever met . The same can be said abut his wife and Josue's mother Fran. Some felt the film was salsa bashing but I did not think that at all . Well just like asses every one has one

I learned so much in this movie in 2 hours than I have learned in 14 years of Salsa dancing . It was awesome!
It was a surprisingly large turn out for the movies especially in these days and times of DVDs Netflix, Blockbuster and the sort . I cannot remember the last time I sat still for 2 hours and watched a movie or have gone to a movie for that matter

Though we had a great turn out a few people who are labeled as leaders in the Salsa community were nowhere in sight . I was asked all night where this person was or where that person was and i would just look around and say I don't know where they are but they are not here .

I will touch on that subject in my next post we do not want any drama in this post about this awesome Documentary .

It was definitely a night to remember and I was honored to be a party of such a great night . Josue if you are reading this thank you so much for all that you have done to get this movie produced it was a masterpiece

Come watch the GRAND movie premiere of "La Epoca - The Palladium Era" and meet, up close and personal, the producers of the film!

Now's the opportunity for both experienced and new Latin dancers to see original Black and White footage of Latin dancers from the 1950's and to compare it with the dancing that exists in present day!

Watch and listen to the musicians who were among the legends that USHERED IN all of the Latin music and rhythms that have been meshed together, in present day, all under one umbrella term: "Salsa."

Who REALLY invented the mambo rhythm? How did Latin music and dance become what they are, today?

Listen to the music and rhythms that are very, VERY rarely heard in present day and live INSIDE the memories and experiences of the high-profile LEGENDARY musicians and dancers who appear in the film, such as "Cuban Pete," Charlie Rodriguez and Agustin Caraballoso.

Very well-known are the names of Celia Cruz and Tito Puente - but how many times have you heard of the musicians who made THEM sound so good?

The film covers in-depth detail regarding the controversy over dancing "on 1" versus dancing "on 2," Mambo versus Salsa, and the film focuses heavily on the controversy over the the umbrella term "Salsa" and its affects on the musicians and dancers since the conception of the word's use to describe Latin music.

10 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Dance Classes Author: Kevin Shwe

10 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Dance Classes Author: Kevin Shwe

click here to view original article

Once you've started your first dance class, it can become an addictive activity and it can become a regular part of your schedule. As well as being fun and a great form of fitness it's great to learn to be able to dance properly like the professionals as well.

Most of the time you will not be told how to make the most out of your dance classes, and as a result many people neglect things which can help them a lot with their dancing. Whereas if you learn HOW to learn and know what things in a dance class you should be paying attention to you can make your learning more effective.

Here are the things which you should be doing in your dance classes to get the most out of them and make the most progress:

1. Treat your dance classes as 'me' time and something you do for yourself. The more you have fun in the dance classes and enjoy yourself, the easier it is for your brain to learn, and besides it's much more fun!

2. Listen to what the dance teacher says, don't just copy them. Many times their words can describe the exact feel of the moves which can be hard to decipher by just watching.

3. Don't feel it's the end of the world if things are not going perfectly. Dance classes can be difficult at times and will stretch you - this is a good thing. If you treat each challenge as something you can master with practise, things can seem a lot less daunting.

4. Try and look exactly like the dance teacher. This includes the exact shapes they are making with their body, hand and feet, body angle, lines, tempo, rhythm and anything else you can pick up on!

5. Perform dance moves full out as much as you can.

6. Breathe while you dance, don't hold your breath!

7. Don't take short cuts. If the teacher shows you the way to do a move, it might seem like a lot of hard work but there'll be a reason they'll be teaching you to do things a certain way.

8. Every dance class and dance style is different. Try and learn every new style as it is without 'flavouring' it with other things you may have learnt in the past. Learn to do it their way. Doing things your way is a separate skill.

9. Focus on what you're doing well, not your shortcomings. Instead practise your weaknesses instead of dwelling upon them.

10. Practise can make perfect (sometimes)!

Progressive Classes

I like the fact that most of the places I teach I teach Progressive classes. I believe that is the best way for a person to learn . How can you learn how to do something if every week you do the same class? I am just asking?

The classes at Lima are doing real well and we have great classes at The Salsa Room as well on Wednesdays. At Roda Dance Studio on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have small intimate classes which are great for the students because I am able to give them more attention .

I went to the DC Salsa Meet Up Party last night at the Salsa Room . They have a one once a month  party and they always have a great crowd . The music was great last night DJ Renzo and DJ EricB rocked the house . What I like about the DC Salsa meet Up parties is I always meet new people.
The salsa scene always need new blood or the scene  becomes stale

I always wondered?

I always wondered why if salseros don't drink , how come they are always the first in line when the bar is an open bar?

So is it salseros don't or they don't drink when they have to pay ?

I always wondered why salseros don't go ut in the rain until I realized it's because they don't want to get wet. Duh

Interesting to say the least. Hypocrisy is Every where even in Salsa

I went to a local web site the other day and the owner of the site was talking about how DC Salsa promoters do not have integrity and care nothing but about the dollar. This person went on to say how the Dj's should accept a certain wage and not low ball the rest of the djs'in town.

I hope I am not one of the promoters that he is talking about but if I am he can kiss where the sun don't shine . And if he is talking about me I would give anything for this guy to say something to me man to man instead of talking behind my back . I am Salsa's number 1 fun dealer .I deal fun not drama so I will not pursuit this issue

First things first, To my knowledge a dj is worth what the dj can get paid. Some of the djs are out here are suffering from Delusions of Grandeur when it comes to what they think they are worth. Some of these guys got lucky and have one real good paying job somewhere and think that is the standard pay for every job. Not realizing every situation is different

To top it off the same person who is crying about djs low balling them is getting paid peanuts to play at a top spot here in DC and has as been underpaid for years now . Now let me get this straight this person has been underpaid for years according to what he says a DJs should accept and then he turns around and talks about what other djs accept to pay . Talk about Hypocrisy

Completely different styles but both are very effective in making a crowd want to dance salsa . mambo and cha cha cha all night long . Like all the Mr. Mambo and SOS events there were people in there from 8 to 80 blind crippled and crazy.

I always have the best time at theses socials. The dress code is relaxed and I don't have to have a suit on . Mr. Mambo and his daughter are great hosts and I do pretty well schmoozing around myself. It os a very friendly atmosphere with no attitudes and no pretension in the air .

Big Jimmy "Shines" taught a great Cha Cha class. I liked his his style of teaching . In the beginning I gave him a hard time just messing with him to see how he was going to handle it and he handled it well

First I had the pleasure of hosting Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra in the Historic StuckOnSalsa Star Salsa Cruise 2006 in Cozumeil Mexico .

And then Sunday May 4,2008 at the University of Maryland I had the opportunity to perform on stage with them . Are you kidding me n stage with my favorite band . I was in Salsa Heaven for the time I got a chance to be on stage with them. It was an experience I will never forget. I mean people can say they danced on stage with them ?

This all happened beacuse of Barbra Berstein. She was teaching a Casino Class befeire the event and dance on the satge with the Band. Well The gentlemen she was going to dance with could not make it. And Barbra thought about me . Talk about luck . I owe Barbra Big time for making that happen for me . It definitely was a highlight if my life . Thanks Barbra ,

Her name was Roberta and that's all she said . He did not ask her for her full name because the way she could dance her last name was the last thing on Juan Carlos' mind. She was a wheeler and a dealer just like Juan Carlos and had her own successful advertising business and always since graduating from Howard she was caller of her own shots. She had met Juan Carlos a week ago at Club Whatever a salsa club in DC while there for the DC Salsa Congress. She left the hotel because she said it was too hot in there too many people were dancing and having a great time but the air conditioner was not at full blast. and for one of the few times of her life she had to get out of the kitchen because she could not take the heat.

So she went over to Club Whatever for what every one goes there for and that is for some "Whatever"

She met Juan Carlos and they danced the night a way , and unfortunately for the club owner they had plenty of room to dance since every one was at the Congress. She danced equally well on 1 and on2 A great beginning his kind of lady. . Next thing she knows she is accepting his invitation to come and hang out in Washington for a week to show her how we do it here in DC.

He meets her at the airport . they have lunch and race straight to his home. They cannot wait to be alone to dance in his new dance studio Juan Carlos had just built into his home. They have a 1 hour private party in the new studio and then take a nap together on the couch to get ready for Clarendon Grill and Keith Givens intermediate class. There was no kind of funny business going on during the nap because at this moment it was not that kind of party..........

I didn't say she wanted to change her ways , she just wanted to get a fresh new start.

Kelvin and Go Go Earl knew the lady very well and had actually done some work with her but they too find out she was treacherous. She knew she couldn't pull anything on over on SOS she had her sights on other targets in the DC area. Where ever she went trouble always followed her. What's to think anything is going to change now .

Very Happy with the Turn Outs for the Resolution Jam and The Spring Fever Jam SOS starts to concentrate on this Grand Opening for the SOS Wed Salsa Happy Hour at tHn Salsa Room On May 7, 2008 Located at 2619 Columbia Pike Arlington , Va

After 9 year Salsa at Zanzibar Wed moves to Thursday. Promoter Eileen Torres says it will actually work out better for the public as she says they will be able to brimng in more Live music from out of town

Shaka Brown is in Japan and The StuckOnSalsa Awards Voting polls open.

Back to the Lady trouble maker who just moved into DC .
She had been to The Salsa Room when it was Cecilia's about 5 years ago but when she cam in to the The Salsa Room She was like Wow! This Wood Floor is simply the Best The New Floor and New Ceiling Fans are awesome. She like the place and she thought to her self this would be a great place for me to set up shops and cause some trouble in this town

The Myth that "Salseros Dont Drink". Club Owners, GET A CLUE: Salseros DRINK more than Club Owners THINK!!

Read article below...

We DRINK more fluids than most alcoholics!! Provide Coffees, Lattes, Sparkling Water, Juices, Sports Drinks, Teas, and charge for water...
By Edie, The Salsa FREAK!!

I was at a Salsa Congress in [country]. They had a juice and smoothie bar with healthy freshly-made fruit drinks that was literally PACKED OUT EVERY night. That Juice bar made more money THAN THE EVENT ITSELF. IN THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS...

$$$ Money Money Money... yes, Salseros will SPEND THE MONEY if it's HEALTHY.

World Famous Club Mayan opened up an Espresso Bar... and MAKES MONEY NO MATTER WHAT.

Attention Club Owners. You have to THINK ABOUT what type of clientel you are attracting
... and CATER TO THEM.

Salseros don't often drink that much alcohol. We feel our "high" from the music, and doing all those fancy dips, tricks, and turns... we can't AFFORD to screw up if we drink.
To make money, and keep your Salsa Club open, you have GOT to charge people a minimum for coming in, be very strict with your guest lists, and provide us with drinks we enjoy - don't just limit us to alcohol. You will be surprised to see the number of serious athletes that frequent the Salsa dance floor. Marathon runners, gymnasts, stuntmen, martial artists, bodybuilders... all of them watch their health like a hawk. Drinking alcohol is not part of their makeup, but exercise is. Dancing to them is another form of exercise. If this is the case, provide them with the fluids they need such as Sports drinks, juices, and coffees.

Salseros can't AFFORD to screw up or fall on the dance floor if they drink. To some dancers, Salsa/Mambo is not only a spiritual and physical renewal, but it's also an art form, and to others, a form of exercise or contact sport. Whatever the case, they may not want to mix health, art, sports, or exercise with alcohol, but when that's all there is available, no wonder they don't buy anything but water at the bar.

There have been countless times when I show up at a club a little tired from the day, and need an extra "caffeine" kick to start off the night. About 50% of the time, the bar doesn't serve coffee. Once I dished out $3 for a coffee, very willingly because it tasted great, got me going, and with a $2 bottle of water, quenched my thirst! Plus, I was able to stay awake for the long drive back to my house!

Many of us are "athletes" out on the Salsa dance floor, and nutritional and stimulating caffeinated drinks are what we'd prefer if we don't drink alcohol, so provide it for us!

So you want to be a promoter?

If people knew what I knew the last thing they would want to be is a salsa promoter. It is a thankless job and one of the hardest jobs there is . Some one is always complaining and there is hardly any money to be made in it because of the expenses. One of the good things about being a salsa promoter is you get to choose who plays the music and that is what the party is all about.

I must say I have met thousands of people and have had a great time in my 5 years of Salsa Promoting and if I had a choice of doing it all over again , I would .

I have promoted parties and cruises where people from all over the world have attended and it has been a fabulous experience. I have also made life time friends and learned so much about salsa dancing.

In future posts . I will post the dos and don'ts of being a salsa promoter for those who are crazy enough to become one so they will not make all the mistakes I made .

Lee Ann Neil on salseros supporting the Bar

You know, it comes down to business -- some bars charge a big $10 cover charge to recoup the losses to the bar when salseros don't drink. Others will play a generic latin mix to draw in the drinking clientele. I used to be pretty much a non-alcoholic salsera, but I always bought my water at the bar. I know we had some salsa places shut down because they discovered too many bottles of water obviously brought in from the outside. For some reason, the dance studio socials have not been nearly as successful in DC as in NY. If I think of my favorite places in NY to dance, most of them are dance studios, with the two exceptions of the Link Lounge on Tuesdays and Cache on Thursdays.

But at the end of the day, clubs don't want salsa dancers because its a bad business case to do so. We drink water or many sneak in their own. We don't buy alcohol which is the biggest source of their revenue. When there is a high cover, we don't come or we come early enough to get around it. One of the reasons why Clarendon Grill has been such a mainstay is because there is a mixed drinking and non-drinking crowd. The bar and the dancefloor stay full.

I would rather pay $3, $4, $5 for a bottle of water or Gaterade than lose a good salsa spot. Just my two cents

Free Salsa Classes at Lima

We are on are second week at Lima and there was not a noticeable drop in class attendance from the First week. Either people had a good time last week and came back or the word spread out to new people but it was definitely a packed class.
It was a great class and the class learned some individual shines and the basic cross body lead and right turn . A lot of people stayed after class and practiced what they learned in class . It was a great night and I am l meeting so many new people . It is exciting to meet new people who are interested in Salsa because that means I will soon have some new people to dance with.

The Resolution Jam

In 5 years StuckOnSalsa has had some great salsa parties but I have to tell you the StuckOnSalsa and ClaveKazi Resolution Jam this past Saturday Jan 5, 2008 was simply one of the best . It was simply electric inside the ClaveKazi studio. People from out of town all up and down the East Coast, The DC Salsa Met Up and the DC Hard Core salseros packed the place and danced all night long . What a way to start off the Salsa Year in DC

Though they call me the Don King Of Salsa , I always back up my hype , so it's not really hype it's just facts . When have i told you an event was going to be big and it wasn't The Resolution lived up to the billing of being StuckOnSalsa's best party of the year on land and in DC . It's one thiong to see the photos and even the videos , but being at a StuckOnSalsa Main event cannot be described it's a salsa situation where you just have to be there to understand the energy and intensity in the room . It was total Salsa Mayhem

DJ Jose Rodriguez DJ Elvira and DJ Neo were off the Salsa Meter and both wood floors in both rooms were awesomeand very dancer friendly

Shaka had to throw us out at 3 :30 am

review of All Star Salsa Cruise 2007 by Edie "'The Salsa Freak"k

Another Unique Salsa Event…

The All-Star Salsa Cruise 2007!!

By Edie, The Salsa FREAK!!

I’m not the only one… that will tell you that it felt like all I did was SLEEP and RELAX on this cruise. I have to say, that on all the cruises I’ve been on, I usually have to “take a VACATION after the vacation”… to get over the vacation that I was TRYING to vacation on!!

This cruise was COMPLETELY different. For SOME STRANGE REASON… all of us on board got AMAZING SLEEP AND MUCH NEED REST AND RELAXATION on this cruise.

As I was “complaining” to everyone within earshot, about all the rest and sleep I was getting… they were telling me the EXACT SAME THING!!! Omg, it was like we were all under some sort of HYPNOTIC CRUISE SPELL or something.

EVERYONE relaxed. EVERYONE got sleep. EVERYONE felt vibrant and ALIVE when we got off that ship. In fact, I loved it so much, that I was the VERY LAST PERSON to disembark from that boat!! I’m not kidding! They shut down security after I left, and locked down the doors as I walked off!

OK, get this. Usually I look TRASHED after an event (and that is putting it nicely…). But this time, I must have really looked “radiant and relaxed” because every single one of the departing security guys gave me a compliment that I looked “great and beautiful” as I walked off that boat. “ Florida ’s Best” one guy commented…

THAT NEVER HAPPENS TO ME… EVER.

I looked behind me to see whom they were complimenting, and THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. Shocked, I looked back at them in complete dumbfounded and absolute amazement, like a deer in headlights, like I just saw a ghost… as my jaw dropped to the floor. “Either they are all high, or … this cruise was the BEST thing for me – EVER.” I thought to myself.

This All-Star Salsa cruise was unbelievable. I was talking to a woman afterward, and she said that before the cruise, she thought she may find a great guy to hang out with, or spend time with everyone on board, but instead she found herself at the Spa, spoiling her “self”, soaking up the rays at the pool side and catching up on much-need SLEEP, rest, and relaxation. She told me she realized she was on this cruise for a much more important reason… a spiritual “self-reawakening” and renewal that was more richly rewarding and satisfying. I could not have agreed with her more.

Don’t get me wrong, we ALL went to the dance parties, attended the All-Star workshops taught by some of the best instructors in the world, hung out with friends, visited the Caribbean islands, watched the FABULOUS shows and performances, but I’ll tell you what, ALL OF US got more out of this cruise than we had bargained for.

Looking back, I started to think and wonder what on earth made this cruise stand out among others. I made a list of “why” this cruise – above all others was so unbelievable.

Maybe it was because…

… it was a six-day cruise, rather than a four-day cruise. All of us got to finally “relax” by the second / third day. Most cruises, by the time you just start to relax, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE. I HATE that.

… the promoters don’t put pressure on anyone for any thing.

… the promoters allowed for “play and relaxation time” in the daily schedule.

… you didn’t have to “look” for other dancers or “Salsa music” on board to have a good time – it was always there – and you could relax with just THE THOUGHT of it. One of the advantages of taking a “Salsa Cruise” is the fact that there “are” Salsa Dancers on board – as opposed to a “Regular Cruise” where after a day or so, you end up “wishing” there were dance partners on board you could cut loose and dance with… and “wishing” they played Salsa music. I can’t even IMAGINE taking a non-Salsa cruise. At first it would be “ok”… maybe a “break” from all the Salsa… but after about the third day, I just know for a FACT I would start getting the Salsa CRAVINGS and the NEED FOR SPEED would take over my body and I would start convulsing and foaming at the mouth … (just kidding – NOT).

…the slow and steady rocking of the boat… naaaaahhh… I thought that too, but there was a slow and steady rocking motion on all the cruises I took before this one as well…

… I was alone and didn’t have to care for, or take care of, or worry about ANYONE ELSE but me. .:)))))))

… my cabin was completely and absolutely pitch-black DARK. Which is one of the advantages of having an inside cabin. If you get a cabin with a window, the sun in the mornings always wakes you up – even if you still want to sleep! I ended up taking LONG PITCH DARK NAPS in the middle of a bright sunny day! Daylight would never matter… time stood still on this cruise, and I CANNOT WAIT for the next one!!!
Special Thanks to co-promoters Kelvin and Sheila Sampath and for all their support in helping us get this off the ground!! Fantastic Event guys! Kudos to a job well-done!

What level are you really?

Most people take a beginners class for 4 weeks and then they think they are at a Intermediate level. Hello it doesn't work like that. And what happened to adv Beginning

Sometimes just like in school you have to stay back while some of your class mates move on to another level . You may not be ready yet . I think dancers should be honest and realistic in their assessment of their skills and take a class that is truly on their level

I was a beginner for a whole 2 years until I was ready to move on but I am a slow learner.

I am curious to know what your thoughts on this subject are .
