If you let me tell it every Big StuckOnSalsa main event is always going to be the biggest and the best event SOS has ever had . But this upcoming StuckOnSalsa Resolution Jam is really going to be the biggest Party on land in the DC area . We have the Cobo Brothers from North Carolina , Darlin Garcia form Philadelphia and Calle Sol also out of Philadelphia performing and we have DJ Jose Rodriguez DJ Salsa Steve from Richmond and DJ Neo from DC providing the Hot Salsa Sounds . Add to the mix that it will be held at The Salsa Room DC's hottest Salsa Venue and you have a combination that cannot be beat

I always wondered

I am a promoter and I always go to other promoters events to support them but here in DC it seems like I am the only one that does this. I hardly ever see other promoters got to other promoters events. I see Keith Givens out a lot but that is just about it. I also go out to see how other promoters handle their events. I even go to the promoters events that to do not have a lot of attendance at their events to see what mistakes not to make.

I never see djs in this town go out to see other djs play. I think that is crazy , you would think that djs would go hear what the competition is playing but what do I know? I love this town and the scene but it is still a strange town

Why do people feel they don't have to count when they dance?

t is such a sore subject with me because I am such an on beat freak . i cringe when people tell me of course I can dance Salsa I am Latino and then they proceed to look like they are crazy when they start dancing.

It's in my blood . I don't have to count I feel the music . Sure Pal.

When you are dancing by your self , no you do not need to count but when you are dancing with a partner or doing a performance with some one , Counting is Mandatory .

What if someone is not feeling what you are feeling ? Then Houston we have a problem .

If the musician who is playing the music is counting they the dancer has count as well

Do you think when people are doing a routine they are all just feeling it? Of course not . The routine is mapped out and broken down into 8 counts. Do you think Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were just feeling it? No they practiced for Hours in a day the mapped out Choreography.

When you are dancing with someone you have to have a plan . And that is what counting does it gives you a plan to follow. I have taken classes form Jazz to Tap to Salsa form some pf the best instructors in the world and not one of them did not teach me anything without counting involved

The DC Salsa Meet Up

The DC Salsa Meet Up came to the SOS WED at the TSR last night and they brougth a party with them . The classes were packed and the dancing was non stop . Wow when the DC Salsa Meet UP comes to an event they change the whole complexion of an event. They bring in a lot of new blood , and in turn they are excited about dancing and having fun and you can feel the fun energy in the air when they come to a party.



No wonder every promoter in town is ringing Cathy Freeman's phone off the hook . They all want the DC Salsa meet Up to come their event I know I do .
