Interesting to say the least. Hypocrisy is Every where even in Salsa
I went to a local web site the other day and the owner of the site was talking about how DC Salsa promoters do not have integrity and care nothing but about the dollar. This person went on to say how the Dj's should accept a certain wage and not low ball the rest of the djs'in town.
I hope I am not one of the promoters that he is talking about but if I am he can kiss where the sun don't shine . And if he is talking about me I would give anything for this guy to say something to me man to man instead of talking behind my back . I am Salsa's number 1 fun dealer .I deal fun not drama so I will not pursuit this issue
First things first, To my knowledge a dj is worth what the dj can get paid. Some of the djs are out here are suffering from Delusions of Grandeur when it comes to what they think they are worth. Some of these guys got lucky and have one real good paying job somewhere and think that is the standard pay for every job. Not realizing every situation is different
To top it off the same person who is crying about djs low balling them is getting paid peanuts to play at a top spot here in DC and has as been underpaid for years now . Now let me get this straight this person has been underpaid for years according to what he says a DJs should accept and then he turns around and talks about what other djs accept to pay . With DJ Mike "EL Sonero"Morales , DJ Ali "El Oso Negro" and Dj Renzo and DJ Neo the floor is sure to be hopping. Great Happy Hour drink prices, early open dancing at 5:30pm ,Free classes this os definitely the place to be on over the Salsa Hump day .

Second Saturday Social at DC Dance Collective is off the Chain
DJ Neo by him self is awesome , DJ Renzo by him self is awesome , these 2 together are awesome. That's what you get at DC Dance Colllective every Second Saturday with DJ Neo and DJ Renzo awesome music all night long . These 2 guys know how to make you dance. Completely different styles but both are very effective in making a crowd want to dance salsa . mambo and cha cha cha all night long . Like all the Mr. Mambo and SOS events there were people in there from 8 to 80 blind crippled and crazy.
I always have the best time at theses socials. The dress code is relaxed and I don't have to have a suit on . Mr. Mambo and his daughter are great hosts and I do pretty well schmoozing around myself. It os a very friendly atmosphere with no attitudes and no pretension in the air .
Big Jimmy "Shines" taught a great Cha Cha class. I liked his his style of teaching . In the beginning I gave him a hard time just messing with him to see how he was going to handle it and he handled it well
Jimmy has been made the Assistant organizer of the DC Everubody loves to ChaChaCha Meet Ip Group

Classes at Roda Dance Movements
I love the new dance studio that I work at in Takoma Park Md 7003 Carrol Ave to be exact.
The floor is nice with mirrors and it is very intimate studio setting . It's perfect . The owners are hard working and nice to boot . I see big potential in the growth of this Studio / I teach Salsa on 1 there on Tuesdays and Thursday from 6:30pm until 7:30pm

GoGo Earl knew Eileen was moving Zanzibar to Thursdays , he knew he had been going out on Wednesday for 9 years and he figured some people would feel the same way too.
It was going to be hard because so many Salsa venues opening up all at the same time on the same nights.

Shaka was heading down to Venezuela this weekend and he will Be promoting the StuckOnSalsa iMambo.tv and Born to Salsa Veteran's Day All Inclusive trip to Playa Del Carmen Mexico Nov 8-Nov 10,2008 . It always helps to know people that travel. Shaka is truly International.
Hating Harry was hating on the SOS Grand Opening Salsa Happy Hour at the Salsa Room that turned out to be pretty good .
Him and Biting Billy were back friends again after Biting Billy got tired of Harry hating all the time and told him to leave him alone.
" Harry quit Hating and admit you had a good time" said Biting Billy . They were plenty of good dancers there and I sure had fun biting s many moves as I could. You know the music was smoking and it's one of the best dance floors in the DC Metro area

Mean while Nick Johnson and our hero Juan Carlos are no longer arch rivals but are now Business partners throwing events toghether. More on that in the next episode

Are you Kidding Me ?
First I had the pleasure of hosting Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra in the Historic StuckOnSalsa Star Salsa Cruise 2006 in Cozumeil Mexico .
And then Sunday May 4,2008 at the University of Maryland I had the opportunity to perform on stage with them . Are you kidding me n stage with my favorite band . I was in Salsa Heaven for the time I got a chance to be on stage with them. It was an experience I will never forget. I mean people can say they danced on stage with them ?
This all happened beacuse of Barbra Berstein. She was teaching a Casino Class befeire the event and dance on the satge with the Band. Well The gentlemen she was going to dance with could not make it. And Barbra thought about me . Talk about luck . I owe Barbra Big time for making that happen for me . It definitely was a highlight if my life . Thanks Barbra ,
